76 individuals on Vancouver Island have died from illicit drug use in 2016.
15 of those were in Nanaimo and two were in Duncan.
The last death from illicit drug use in Sechelt, according to the BC Coroners Service was in 2014.

Overall, according to new statisics from the BC Coroners Service, in the first half of 2016, the total number of deaths from illicit drug overdoses was 371, an increase of 74.2% from the same time period in 2015.
In light of the numbers of people dying from the use of illicit drugs, including those containing fentanyl, the Coroners Service is urging users to exercise extreme caution.
