No overnight camping allowed

The City of Parksville BC recently passed a bylaw which allows homeless people to camp in most city parks.

However, across the water, on the Sunshine Coast, the rules are different.

Carolyn Mortensen, Manager of Parks Services for the SCRD says there’s a bylaw which prevents people from staying overnight at local parks.

She says the bylaw was adopted a few years back and anyone looking to stay overnight, needs a special permit to do so.
