The Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition is turning up the heat on the province for support.
Leo Boon, speaking for the Coalition says the province has a report that says if the excess weight and inactivity of British Columbians was reduced by 10 per cent the government would save nearly 8 billion dollars in direct and indirect costs.
He says encouraging cycling is a good way to accomplish that and it shouldn’t be too difficult nor as expensive as some other options are..
The province is working on a Transportation Vision and Boon says building up the infrastructure for transit, walking and cycling has numerous benefits.
