The District of Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast Seniors Planning Table are collaborating on an Age Friendly Community Plan for Sechelt.
Alison Leaney, a coordinator with the Sunshine Coast Seniors’ Planning Table, says they’ve received a $20,000 grant from the province to develop the plan.
Leaney says they’ll build the plan around the World Health Organization’s definition of an age-friendly community.
She says they’ll be hosting a series of focus groups beginning in April to gather public input, and they hope aspects of Sechelt’s plan can be adopted by other communities on the Sunshine Coast.
