The City of Nanaimo is issuing a boil water advisory as of midnight.
Water Resources Manager Bill Sims says they’re expecting turbid water to enter the system due to heavy rain and snow melt in the South Fork watershed.
Sims says, as of Tuesday evening, the water is safe to drink, but the turbid water will start moving through the water system after midnight.
Sims says they will continue to monitor the turbidity levels and lift the Boil Water Advisory as soon as possible.
The City has activated its Emergency Call Alert System to inform residents about the advisory.
