Extreme weather shelters full, but not stressed

We’re in the middle of a record-setting cold snap, and that means it’s busy at the Extreme Weather Emergency Shelters.

Kevan Griffith is the coordinator for the shelter in Nanaimo. He says they’ve been at capacity.

On the Sunshine Coast, the Extreme Weather Emergency Shelter is coordinated by the Salvation Army.  Tim Leslie says they’ve been busy, but below capacity.

Leslie also says if you want to help out there are a couple of quick and easy things you could do:

Fundraising to keep the shelter open on non-extreme weather nights is in its final push.  There’s an event Saturday in Sechelt.  Details are on the Coast Connection page.
