RCMP looking into Gibsons pepper spray incident

Sunshine Coast RCMP say they’re hoping to find the people who let off a can of pepper spray Sunday night in Gibsons.

It happened in the 5 corners area near Molly’s Reach around 8:30.

Constable Harrison Mohr says several people felt the effects of the spray, but nobody suffered any serious harm.

Mohr says they have a good description of the man and woman involved, and the car they were in.

We are in the process of locating those involved, and ask the male and female to come forward and contact Sunshine Coast RCMP to discuss the incident, he says. We would also like to remind the public that although you can possess items such as dog repellant or bear spray, intentionally using any such spray against a person constitutes an assault with a weapon. If it was an accidental discharge in this case, we would like to speak with the male and get more details about why he was in possession of the spray, and how it went off.
