City of Nanaimo being asked to join Blue Dot movement

Several Canadian cities have joined the David Suzuki Foundation’s Blue Dot movement and tonight Nanaimo will be asked to do the same.

Cities like Vancouver, Montreal, and Yellowknife have passed resolutions protecting the rights of their residents to live in a healthy environment.

On Monday evening, Green Party candidate Paul Manly will be asking Councillors to pass a similar resolution.

Manly says the goal of the Blue Dot movement is to ultimately persuade the federal government to amend to the Charter of Rights to include an environmental bill of rights.

Manly says he’s hoping Nanaimo City Council will see the value of joining the Blue Dot movement.
