Man arrested after violent struggle in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP have arrested a man wanted on 21 firearms-related offences.

On Tuesday, the Nanaimo Street Crimes Unit found 38-year-old Kristopher Wolfevillage at the 7-Eleven on Dover Rd.

Their attempt to arrest him turned into a violent struggle and it took three officers and several nearby civilians to detain him. The officers and Wolfevillage ended up with bumps and bruises, but they didn’t require medical treatment. None of the civilians were hurt.

Investigators searched his home after the arrest and found a stolen laptop, hard drives and cell phones. They also found several “break and enter kits” containing wigs, a balaclava, gloves, flashlights and tools for break ins.

Wolfevillage has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in court on April 14th, and again on April 21st. Along with the original charges, he’s now facing several counts of Assaulting a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Uttering Threats and Mischief.

“When Wolfevillage was arrested, he was wearing a disguise that consisted of a long wig and dark sunglasses,” says Constable Gary O’Brien. “This individual had no intent of going back to jail and as a result the violent struggle ensued. Our members would also like to thank the civilians for assisting with the arrest. They put themselves in harm’s way and without their assistance this individual may have evaded arrest and would still be at large within our community, carrying out criminal activity.”
