Forum on Woodfibre LNG being hosted by Future of Howe Sound Society

A comment period on an environmental review for the Woodfibre LNG proposal is over, but that’s not stopping people from trying to get their opinions heard.

Women from the Squamish Nation staged protests last weekend, and on April 1st, the Future of Howe Sound Society is hosting a forum in West Van called “Woodfibre LNG – Is it right for Howe Sound?“.

Federal Green Party candidate Ken Melamed says the answer to that question is “no”.

Melamed wrote a submission for the Environmental Assessment Office with Sunshine Coast resident Julian Taylor, a professional engineer and energy industry expert.

Melamed also says weak regulations and lax enforcement add to the potential risks.

Woodfibre, meanwhile, is doing more to get its side of the argument out. Last week it launched www.askwoodfibrelng.ca along with a YouTube channel aimed at addressing questions and concerns about the project.
