BC Ferries says a passenger reported overboard from the Queen of Oak Bay was recovered from the water near Bowen Island just before 5pm Monday evening.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether the man jumped or went over the side accidentally.  Deborah Marshall of BC Ferries says witnesses report he jumped.

Marshall says the man was recovered from the water after about a half hour of searching

His condition is not known.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says the man was turned over to the Vancouver Police, who also sent a boat to respond, and VPD will handle any follow-up investigation.
