Opponents still concerned medical grow op coming to Nanoose or Yellowpoint

Wildflower Marijuana is keeping some concerned citizens guessing when it comes to where they want to set up production.

The company was originally looking at properties in Yellow Point and Nanoose, with the intention of building on both.

Wildflower has now put down a $20,000 deposit on a property in Parksville, with the support of Parksville’s Mayor and council.

Lehann Wallace with the River’s Edge Community in Nanoose says at first that seemed like the end of their worries.

Wallace says they’re still concerned because Wildflower still hasn’t withdrawn their application to Health Canada for the Rivers Edge location.

David Brown with the Yellow Point Concerned Citizens group says they’re hoping the Yellow Point idea is dead. Brown says industrial sites like the one in Parksville are where big commercial grow ops belong, not the type of land Wildflower was looking at in Yellow Point.

The closing date for the purchase of the Parksville property is on or before February 15th. Wildflower hasn’t confirmed whether they’re still hoping to build two facilities.
