The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue says a weekend incident on the Sunshine Coast is a good reminder to let people know your plans when you head out on the water.
Station 12 in Halfmoon Bay was called out when a boat with 4 people on board didn’t return to Halfmoon Bay, after setting out for Jedediah Island.
A Coast Guard ship that was also part of the search found the boaters on Jedediah. They had a bonfire going and told their would-be rescuers they’d changed their plans and decided to stay the night.
The problem was their friends who’d made the emergency call didn’t know that.
