Sechelt’s new sewer treatment plant has cleared another hurdle.
The District says the 25 million dollar facility has now taken in its first waste water, and what engineers call “seed sludge”; material to help kick-start the biological treatment process.
The next steps include adding plants to the greenhouse section, which is a key part of the facility’s unique design.
Testing will continue all month, and if it goes well the old Ebbtide facility will be shut down and a full sewer flow will go into the new plant for a final 28 day assessment.
