Tonight is the last and busiest night of the season for Operation Red Nose in Nanaimo.
Coordinator Jeanne Seney says they’re expecting to get upwards of 200 calls. She says it’ll be a busy night but it’s not all work and no play for their drivers.
You can call Operation Red Nose at 250-755-6969 for a ride between 9pm and 3am. They’re asking you to call an hour before you would like a ride.
It’s also the final night of the season for the RCMP’s impaired driving Counter Attack. On the Sunshine Coast RCMP are looking at adopting a program to encourage people to call 911 when they spot suspected drunk drivers. But Constable Harrison Mohr says it’s something they’d like people can keep in mind now.
Operation Red Nose doesn’t operate on the Sunshine Coast, but there’s a private company offering a similar service. You can call Responsible Ride Service at 604-989-7752.
You can also take the bus home for free tonight. Public transit is free starting at 7:00pm on the Sunshine Coast, and after 8:30pm in Nanaimo.
