Sechelt Arts Festival 2014 goes into the books as a success, but mayor says there's room to build audience

Organizers of the Sechelt Arts Festival say 2014 was another success, especially the collaborative effort that brought together First Nations artists with the wider artistic community.

In their final report for council Festival producers say there was good attendance, a boost in sponsorship money and they stuck to their budget.

And Sechelt Mayor Bruce Milne, who’s worked with the Sunshine Coast Arts Council in his non-political life, says he thinks there are still a couple of  elements missing when it comes to who goes out to support the annual fall event, including more young people.

Milne also says the people one typically expects to be patrons of the arts in the community haven’t generally been part of the Festival audience.

You can see the Sechelt Arts Festival 2014 final report as part of the Dec 10th Committee of the Whole Agenda, here.
