Nanaimo Community Hospice is welcoming a new Executive Director.
Karyn French is taking over the job, which was formerly held by Wendy Pratt. Pratt stepped down after 15 years at the helm to enter local politics.
French has worked in the non-profit sector for more than 20 years, most recently as the Executive Director of Pacifica Housing, a social housing provider.
She says it’s an exciting time to be joining Nanaimo Hospice.
French says the finishing touches are coming together at 1080 St.George Crescent, including the serenity garden.
She says Nanaimo Hospice is now mortgage free, thanks to the efforts of their many volunteers, and she says one of her first tasks will be organizing a mortgage-burning party.
