Town of Gibsons looking to provide new home for historic vessel

A campaign to save and restore the iconic boat Persephone used in the Beachcombers, and the Town of Gibsons says they’re actively looking for help to build a facility for its preservation.

According to the Town, the project will cost $775,000 and they’re actively applying for grants and corporate sponsorships in addition to funds already raised.

In a media release, the Town says BC Ferries has already offered $25,000 to the project, and some local support has already gone into the restoration process, but more needs to be done.

They add, donations of $200 or more will be eligible for a charitable tax receipt, and recognition of the contribution will be displayed alongside the vessel.

The first stage of the plans has already been drafted for Persephone’s new home near the Visitor Information Centre at Holland Landing, and more information on the plans will be made available next month.
