The Sunshine Coast school district says they’re looking forward to welcoming two new faces to the team as the new school season opens.
Michael Harris will be assistant manager of facilities, and according to the district, his previous experience will be beneficial to staff and students within SD46.

“Harris began his career with the district as a custodian before advancing to his current role, as a utility person/maintenance worker,” they say. “Before joining our district, he worked as a specialized machine operator with a structural steel fabrication company in Vancouver, and as a metal fabricator in Perth, Australia.”
Superintendent Kate Kerr the appointment will aid in strengthening education around the district.
“We are confident that Harris’s expertise and dedication will make him a strong fit for this crucial role, and we look forward to his continued contributions to our district,” she says.

In addition to Harris’s appointment, the district says it will also welcome James Walton as the new human resources manager.
Walton is a well-known face in the district who has been the assistant manager of facilities and transportation and the co-chair of the district’s occupational health and safety committee.
According to a media release, Walton has also served with the SCRD as manager of transit and fleet operations.
Kerr says Walton’s work experience will ensure priorities are met and carefully measured at every level.
