A man charged with manslaughter will have his trial next month in Nanaimo after a provincial court judge heard a pretrial conference this morning.
Mark Jayden Harrison was charged with manslaughter following an incident in Maffeo Sutton Park on the evening of Sept. 5, 2022.
Police reported a group had attacked another group in the park.
Twenty-nine-year-old Fred Parsons died following the attack which occurred at the playground in Maffeo Sutton Park.
According to RCMP Harrison was originally charged with second-degree murder on September 9, but the charges were changed to manslaughter on Mar. 1.
The trial is set for July 10 at 2:00 p.m.
