Hike for Hospice goes Sunday

The Hike for Hospice is a national event that takes place in communities across the country and on the Sunshine Coast, it’s taking place this Sunday.

The president of the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, Denis Fafard said last year the event raised over 50,000 dollars.

“That is a testimony to the generosity of the people in this community. I mean, seriously, you look at, in terms of sheer money coming in because the Hike for Hospice is a national event, right, we are way up at the top. I haven’t done any research on this, but I would suspect on a per capita basis, if we are not in the top five I would be astonished.”

As many as 150 people are expected to turn out for the event.

It starts with registration at 11 at Mission Point Park, the performances go at 11:30, there will be hot dogs and hamburgers available, and the actual walk takes place along the seawall at 1.
