Water restrictions begin May 1

Stage 1 Outdoor Water Use Regulations come into effect tomorrow (May 1) for residents of the SCRD, Gibsons and the District of Sechelt.

Sprinklers, soaker hoses, irrigation systems, and other watering devices can be used for outdoor watering.

For even addresses outdoor watering is allowed Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 7 to 9 in the morning or 7 to 9 in the evening.

For odd addresses, outdoor watering is allowed Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday during the same hours.

The restrictions may escalate at any time there is a significant stress on the regional water supply due to reduced snowpack, hotter and drier weather or extended drought.

In Nanaimo and the RDN, Stage 2 watering restrictions also begin tomorrow.

Sprinklers can be set up on even days for even-numbered houses and on odd days for odd-numbered houses between the hours of 7 to 10 in the morning or 7 and 10 in the evening.
