Teacher job action prompts schedule changes for Nanaimo Ladysmith schools

The job action by BC teachers wasn’t supposed to have an impact on students, but the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District now says it will mean some changes to the school day for elementary students.

Donna Reimer speaks for the school district. She says they’re moving afternoon recess for the elementary schools to the end of the day, starting April 28th.

Reimer says the bus schedule will stay the same, and there will be supervision during the last 15 minutes of the day.

May 6th was supposed to be a PD Day, but it will now be a regular school day.  They’ve also cancelled early dismissals on April 28th and May 12th.

School District 46 on the Sunshine Coast is not planning any schedule changes at this point and their May 5th PD Day is still on the calendar.
