Open House for Tetrahedron Park

The Ministry of Environment isn’t saying much about an open house that’s being organized in Sechelt this week.

BC Parks is preparing to initiate a public consultation process on options to enable the Province to consider a permit to authorize the SCRD’s proposed Chapman Lake water supply expansion project.

Attempts to get an interview with BC Parks were unsuccessful.

However, a representative with the ministry was able to explain via email what the two options are that they will consider.

One is to redesignate the entire Tetrahedron Park as a protected area under the Environment and Land Use Act with the necessary powers to authorize community water supply infrastructure upgrades.

The other is to redesignate the 130 hectares containing Chapman and Edwards lakes as a protected area under the Environment and Land Use Act with the necessary powers to authorize community water supply infrastructure upgrades.

The open house is scheduled to go from 5-7 at the Seaside Centre on Wednesday.
