Residents in the Sandy Hook area are speaking out about a privately managed forest in their neighbourhood.
A numbered company based out of Vancouver is looking to log 127acres of forest in that area. And not much can be done from the public’s standpoint as privately managed forests do not have to do a geotech report or environmental studies.
Diana Mumford says the logging has been suspended due to a request from Sechelt Nation but she hopes there will be a permanent solution in the near future.
Mumford says mudslides happen and a geotech report would be crucial.
She says she’s tried to reach out to the province as well as other organizations to see what can be done about this project
