Gibsons woman has serious kitchen mojo

A tasty treat whipped up by a home cook from Gibsons is hitting store shelves.

Elisa Hendricks has been competing on the TV show Recipe to Riches… where cooks get a chance to have their favourite recipe turned into a President’s Choice product.

Hendricks’ Italian Lollipops, a concoction of cheese, sausage and herbs, deep fried in a crispy coating and served on a stick, took top prize for appetizers.  They go on sale March 22nd.

She says it was a lot of fun being on the show, and getting a chance to prepare a recipe that has special meaning.  The cheese, Friulano, is from Italy’s Friuli region where her father grew up.

You can hear our full interview with Elisa here.

And it turns out Hendricks isn’t the only TV chef with a local connection.

Ruth Wigman, who’s originally from Nanaimo, has been competing on Top Chef.  Unfortunately she got cut this week.

These days Wigman is a chef in St. John’s Newfoundland.
