The Sunshine Coast Regional District says with some extra conservation effort from water users it can hold off on going to Stage 4 restrictions for a while longer.
When it went to Stage 3 earlier this month, the SCRD was aiming to get consumption down to 16 million litres a day, but now they want to get to 14 or lower.
Bryan Shoji is the SCRD’s GM of Infrastructure Services. He says it’s impossible to predict how much time that will buy.
Shoji says the current weather and consumption trends tell him that if the weather doesn’t change, but the consumption comes down below that 14 million litre a day mark they likely won’t need to consider Stage 4 until mid August.
