Sunshine Coast RCMP plan to be more visible on the water

Sunshine Coast RCMP say more visibility on the water is part of their long-term plan.

The issue came up at the Regional District Policing Committee Monday, in response to the recent arrests of two men accused of break-ins on islands in Howe Sound, and remote locations in the Inlets north of Sechelt.

Staff Sergeant Vishal Mathura told the Committee RCMP are planning to beef up marine patrols, although not necessarily in light of that incident.

Mathura also says, however, the case involving the two men – who had to be arrested with help from the Emergency Response Team – was an isolated incident.
