Big crowd celebrates launch of Progress Plan

Three years and around 300-thousand dollars later, the Sunshine Coast has it’s Progress Plan.

More than 200 people gathered in Sechelt Thursday to celebrate the release of the final recommendations on improving the economic well-being of women on the Sunshine Coast.

They highlight action that should be taken in five broad areas: Income, child care, transportation, elder/seniors care, and community belonging.

And there was one big theme – don’t let the recommendations gather dust. Michelle Morton is one of the project coordinators.

And, project co-chair Anne Titcomb has a message for local politicians.

The Progress Plan has already spawned continuing initiatives like the BC 211 information line, the Self Employed Women’s Network, and a Seniors Planning Table.
