Sechelt’s Kinnikinnick Elementary has launched a new breakfast program.

Volunteers and staff cut the ribbon and served their first 31 students Tuesday morning.

Kinnikinnick principal Cathy McCubbin says their pilot project builds on the Breakfast for Kids program that’s already offering a few basics in several Sunshine Coast schools.

McCubbin says they’re getting funding through Breakfast for Kids, the School District and “pay-as-you-can” contributions from parents. She also says if it works well it might be a model that can be expanded to other schools.

Breakfast for Kids is getting ready to for a major fundraising effort, which will not only support what’s happening at Kinnikinnik, but at other schools as well.
