There could be an important turning point for a lingering issue in the Pender Harbour area this weekend.
An information session on Saturday (1pm to 3:30pm at Madeira Park Community Hall) will open an Official Community Plan review, and the Sechelt First Nation is using the opportunity to announce a meeting with Pender residents on issues like the moratorium on private docks.
Powell River Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons has been urging the province to come to the table and work with the Sechelt Nation and the community, and he says the province has to take some of the blame for the issue going unresolved for so long.
Another issue the upcoming meeting will deal with is the plan for a Sechelt Nation longhouse on land owned by two conservation trusts.
