Nanaimo Cowichan’s Jean Crowder has a private members bill on the books that would give more power and responsibilities to the Coast Guard. It could be back in Parliament in the new year.
John Weston of West Vancouver Sunshine Coast, meanwhile, has been working with local governments and has another meeting planned in January.
Weston, a Conservative, says he hasn’t read the full text of Crowder’s bill so it’s too early to say if he’ll back his NDP colleague’s legislation.
