Councillors in Sechelt got down to business yesterday, with their first true meeting since the inaugural.
And they’ve already hit the pause button on a controversial proposal. During the Committee session Council voted to hold off on doing anything with the District owned property at Lot L until January; effectively killing pending deals to sell parts of the property.
They also offered unanimous approval for an exemption to the open burning bylaws for an industrial facility above the airport.
Mayor Bruce Milne says allowing material to be trucked and burned at that site is a good option.
The company – Cloutier Holdings – says it’s not sure when the approximately 200 tonnes of material will be burned because it needs to wait for the right conditions, but it will probably be sometime this month.
