RDN looks for volunteers for advisory boards

The Regional District of Nanaimo is looking for volunteers to serve on several advisory committees.

Residents with experience or an interest in parks, recreation, culture, agriculture, waste management, planning, climate action, drinking water or watershed protection are encouraged to apply.

“Volunteer knowledge and perspectives are a valuable part of the advisory committees that work on a broad range of items that impact our region and its residents,” reads a news release from the RDN. “Committee members provide a focal point for co-operation between community interests and the RDN on local governance matters, advise on a wide range of projects and work with community and neighbourhood groups.”

Applications are being accepted until Nov. 4 for the following committees:

  • Electoral Area A Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee
  • Parks and Open Space Advisory Committees in electoral areas B, C, E, F, G and H
  • Agricultural Advisory Committee
  • Board of Variance
  • Climate Action Technical Advisory Committee
  • Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Technical Advisory Committee
  • Liquid Waste Management Plan Monitoring Committee
  • Solid Waste Management Plan Monitoring Advisory Committee

Members are appointed by the RDN board following an open application process. Terms range from one to three years, with appointments scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2027.
