BC Ferries sets sail for busy Labour Day long weekend

The Labour Day long weekend is here, and BC Ferries is expecting a busy few days ahead.

Travellers are reminded to plan ahead before setting sail during the long weekend.

In a statement, BC Ferries said it expects high travel volumes on major routes between Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Lower Mainland through the long weekend.

“Sailings have very limited vehicle booking space remaining on peak travel days,” said a statement from BC Ferries. “If you don’t have a booking, check Current Conditions before leaving home and be prepared for sailing waits during the busiest travel periods.”

BC Ferries also suggests travelling during off-peak periods or as a foot passenger.

The ferry company expects busy conditions all day Friday, with busy periods Saturday morning and afternoon. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are also expected to be busy, particularly for travellers returning to the Lower Mainland.
