Nanaimo looks for feedback to inform new seniors emergency preparedness guide

The City of Nanaimo is looking for feedback from seniors and caregivers to help shape a new seniors emergency preparedness guide.

The city says the guide will help people prepare for community-wide emergencies, such as extreme heat, power outages, earthquakes and wildfires.

“While we can’t predict our next emergency, we can predict that there will be emergencies. From extreme heat to wind storms and power outages to evacuations, we want everyone to be as prepared as possible. The new guide we are creating starts with feedback. Whether you are 55 plus, or work directly with older adults, complete the survey and help us create an emergency resource that works for all of Nanaimo’s seniors,” says councillor Tyler Brown.

The survey is available online or in a paper format until Oct. 1. It can be found at community locations around Nanaimo.

Anyone who wants to participate can find the survey and more information on the Get Involved Nanaimo website.
