Nanaimo police search for stolen shotgun

Nanaimo RCMP are seeking the public’s help to locate a shotgun stolen from a parked vehicle.

Police said the firearm was taken from the 100 block of Cameron Road sometime between midnight and 11 a.m. on June 6.

“An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger window of a parked pickup truck and removed a Mossberg 500 Mossy Oak 12-gauge pump action shotgun. Serial number not available. The vehicle had been parked overnight near the Maritime Museum. Also taken was a blanket, believed to have been used to conceal the firearm, and a bank card. No ammunition was taken,” police said.

RCMP said a man was seen near the vehicle on security footage around 2 a.m. and is the only person of interest in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the stolen firearm is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
