Nanaimo man arrested after shots were fired in home

A 38-year-old Nanaimo man has been arrested after shots were fired in a residence.

Tuesday afternoon, Nanaimo RCMP got a report of a firearm being discharged at a rural property in the area of South Wellington.

When officers arrived on scene, a man walked out of the residence and was arrested without incident, with a shotgun found nearby.

Reserve Constable Gary O’Brien says while searching the home, no victims or other occupants were found.

“The only damage to the residence was to the front door,” said O’Brien.

O’Brien says it was an isolated incident, with no further risk to the public.

The man faces multiple weapons charges.
