City of Nanaimo looks to fill vacant committee position

A position has become vacant in the City of Nanaimo, and the city says they’re looking to fill it with someone who has extensive knowledge with urban design.

The city is looking to fill the volunteer position for the design-advisory panel which they say would be a three-year term, and interested applications can be delivered by email or in hand no later than Apr. 11.

According to the city, the panel reviews the form and character of development permit proposals for multi-family, commercial, and industrial developments in relation to their guidelines.

They say the panel also provides independent, objective recommendations to enhance the design of new developments and improve public spaces.

Mayor Leonard Krog says the city is expanding, and getting involved on the panel is a great way for anyone to help shape the future of Nanaimo.

“Nanaimo is growing, and thoughtful design plays a key role in shaping our city’s future,” he says. “Volunteering for the Design Advisory Panel is a great way for residents to contribute their expertise and help ensure new developments reflect the needs and character of the community.”

Interested candidates are encouraged to look at the city’s website before applying.
