Charges laid against Victoria woman in fatal Whiskey Creek crash

A two-vehicle crash from last year which killed one passenger has had charges laid against a woman from Victoria. 

39-year-old Jasmine Bal has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. 

The crash happened on February 15, 2024, around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 4 and Carson Road in Whiskey Creek and saw the two vehicles collide into each other despite going in opposite directions. 

A 38-year-old was announced deceased at the scene and the remaining vehicle occupants were transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

Bal is set to appear in court in Nanaimo on March 25.
