Parksville man facing break and enter charges for two business break-ins

Oceanside RCMP have released a man from custody with conditions to be in court later after facing charges of two break and enter thefts to two downtown Parksville businesses.

Officers attended to a business with alarms going off at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, and discovered the business had been broken into through a broken glass window.

Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP said the arresting officers were very focused and allowed them to catch the suspect.

“Because the business had up to date working video surveillance they could immediately provide to officers, the suspect was arrested, and the stolen items were recovered and returned all within a couple of hours.”

The suspect was a 28-year-old man of no fixed address and was found on the Island Highway just two hours after the investigation began.

The man is also a suspect in a separate December 2024 break and enter investigation into another downtown Parksville business with forensic evidence linking him to the scene at the time.

He was held in custody for a brief time but has been released since with conditions to appear in court on April 22 in relation to both break and enter investigations.

No charges have been released at this time and the suspects name cannot be released as a result.
