The City of Nanaimo’s 150th birthday bash is well underway, with some special events this weekend locals won’t want to miss.
The HMCS Nanaimo is in the harbour this weekend, and the naval ship is open for public tours on Saturday and Sunday. It’s moored at the Port of Nanaimo’s visiting vessel pier and tours will be available from 10am-4pm before it departs on Monday.
There are also a host of activities happening downtown, including events for kids, art installations, live music, and food trucks.
The city is celebrating 150 years since its first official council meeting with a month of free fun for all ages, events run until February 17.
