Hopkins Landing dock is scheduled to get a facelift as the Sunshine Coast Regional District starts to restore the community landmark.
The district says they closed the structure in 2023 over safety concerns, but with funding approved, and several community engagement sessions, they can start going ahead with upgrades to restore the dock.
They say the community expressed interest in preserving the dock and not changing it.
“At an open house and through the SCRD’s Let’s Talk project page, community members expressed a strong desire to preserve the dock’s original appearance,” they say. “The renovation will follow a ‘like-for-like’ design, while maintaining the dock’s familiar look while improving safety and resilience.”
Construction is set to begin the last week of January, and be completed by the end of February, however the district says completion is weather dependent.
