Mayors and council members of both the City of Parksville and Town of Qualicum Beach have announced new additions to their healthcare system.
Eight physicians and nurse practitioners have been added to the regions healthcare system to help with an ongoing doctor shortage across Canada.
Dr.’s Edward Aasman, Chandni Desai, Neil Ingram, Kendra Losch, Olajumoke Badmus Noorat, and Robert Tremblay have been added along with nurse practitioners Nadine Clark and Melanie Tait.
In a January 14 press release, the governments said they’ve heard lots of concerns from residents about the lack of health care available and they decided to act despite healthcare not being a core function for local governments.
The governments said they look forward to working with the new health care workers and continue to recruit and retain more for 2025 and beyond.
