The Sunshine Coast Regional District has elected to replace the chair and vice-chair.
According to the district, District of Sechelt councillor Alton Toth was elected by acclamation to replace Area A director Leonard Lee, and Area B director Justine Gabais will serve as the new vice-chair, taking over from Area E director Donna McMahon.
Lee served as chair since Nov. 10, 2022, and chair Toth says he looks forward to continuing to build on Lee’s legacy while building a solid future across the SCRD.
“I would like to thank director Lee for his leadership as chair over the past two years,” Toth says. “I look forward to working with the rest of our directors and the dedicated staff at the SCRD on the many challenges facing the region.”
Toth was first appointed to the board on Nov. 1, 2019, and re-appointed on Nov. 10, 2022. He was also elected to serve as vice-chair of the SCRD board of directors on Nov. 9, 2023.
