The Regional District of Nanaimo won’t be seeing a change in leadership after directors decided to keep their chair and vice-chair in place for another term.
During a board meeting on Nov. 12, both chair Vanessa Craig and vice chair Stuart McLean were acclaimed to the role for another one-year term.
Craig will go on to serve her third term for the RDN and she says having the chance to serve again will allow her to continue the legacy the district has started.
“I thank the board for their confidence in me as chair and look forward to continuing to work with the board and staff as we meet the needs of residents,” she says. “I’m also honoured to lead the ongoing advocacy of our region’s many interests to the province with the goal to help make the RDN an even better place to live, work, and play.”

McLean says he echos the comments made by Craig and adds there’s still much more that the district needs to do.
“There’s still much to be done and I’m committed to fulfilling the role of vice-chair in support of our collective efforts and the residents we’re here to serve,” he says.
The board is currently made up of 19 elected officials who represent four municipalities in seven electoral areas.
