Fire Departments in School District 69 will be lined up to accept cash donations for the Salvation Army food bank during their annual Fill the Boots for Food campaign.
The first food drive in the Oceanside region was held in 1997 and according to the district, it now includes eight departments who generously contribute annually to the drive.
From Nov. 16 to 17 firefighters will be located across the region as they collect donations, as well as new unwrapped toys for the Society of Organized Services and the Salvation Army.
Residents are also encouraged to drop off donations directly to the Salvation Army at 886 Wembley Road on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Society of Organized Services says they’ll be accepting donations for their Caring for Community at Christmas program to help provide gifts to local youth and children, and grocery store cards to families and adults.
They also add financial donations can be made online, by email, in person, or by calling (250) 248-2093.
