Nanaimo RCMP continues to look for answers to a fatal hit and run accident.
21-year-old Charles Tommy was killed on Thursday October 24 around 7 p.m. on Harmac Road just east of the Cedar Road Bridge.
Witness reports said Tommy was both standing on the shoulder and lying in the roadway before being struck or run over, leading investigators to believe the driver of the vehicle may be unaware they struck a person.
Numerous statements have been taken by RCMP as well as dash cam footage and video surveillance from the area to find the vehicle responsible.
RCMP said Tommy’s parents are devastated at the loss of their only son and eldest child and he leaves behind a seven-month-old son.
Police are asking the driver of the vehicle to come forward to help bring closure to Tommy’s family.
No further comment will be made about the investigation Nanaimo RCMP said.
