Nanaimo man wanted for Assault with a Weapon

A search is still underway for a man wanted by Nanaimo RCMP who is believed to have assaulted a homeowner with a weapon.

Police say David Thomas, 31, is a Nanaimo resident and in June of 2020 entered a North Nanaimo home where he used bear spray at an occupant and fled the scene.

Reserve constable Gary O’Brien says the four-year search is still underway to bring Thomas to justice.

“Although the incident occurred over four years ago, investigators are still searching and have reason to believe he is in the Nanaimo area,” he says.

Thomas is an Indigenous man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing roughly 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
