One man is in hospital with serious injuries after a shootout in central Nanaimo.
RCMP say the incident occurred shortly around 6 p.m. on Saturday, and after several reports of shots being fired, they attended the scene with BCEHS.
They add the injured man was treated at the scene and taken to Nanaimo hospital, but an investigation is currently underway.
The suspect is said to have fled the scene, and after an extensive search, police weren’t able to locate the man but they don’t believe there is any further risk to the public.
Reserve constable Gary O’Brien says the victim is in stable condition, and the incident appears to have been targeted.
